This beautiful ostrich is available for sale as a limited edition canvas at AVOOVA in Bree Street and on high-quality cushions in a range of bright colours. She was originally captured on film by South African photographer Alex Arjes.

From time to time AVOOVA collaborates with ‘guest’ designers, a concept which allows for the dynamic exchange of innovative ideas. We have just launched a new collection in conjunction with award-winning Karoo designer, Sally Arnold and her designs will be featured in all the stores in 2012.

AVOOVA works on bespoke pieces for clients all over the world. This recent commission for a homesick South African’s ultra-modern UK home, combined AVOOVA’s sensual eggshell with an organic base made by leading furniture designer, John Vogel.

The new store in Johannesburg and the spring opening of a factory shop in Prince Albert will bring the number of AVOOVA shops to five. The original 150sq m flagship store in Bree Street opened its doors in 2009, followed by Franschhoek Square in 2010 and the V&A Waterfront in March 2011.

Our new collection of frames brings together the distinctive contrasts of EBONY and IVORY, setting the creamy warmth of ostrich eggshell against a rich, dark-grained African softwood, finished with pewter inlays.

In 2010 AVOOVA was commissioned by Terence Disdale Design to create 5 bespoke ostrich eggshell tables for the world’s largest private motor yacht, Eclipse, on behalf of its owner, Roman Abramovich.

The private yacht which measures 170 metres in length and was built in Germany at an estimated cost of US$350 million, has been spotted at exclusive locations all over the world.

At a recent gala event hosted by Art & Life at Val de Vie Wine and Polo Estate, one of AVOOVA’s 18-bottle wine coolers went up for auction alongside other artworks and was snapped up for quite a premium by one of the generous, wine-loving guests. The event - which included a fashion show, live performances and a polo match - went on to raise R220,000 for five charities. An AVOOVA Menyezela bowl was presented to the winning polo team.
