The Company

A story of authenticity and ingenuity, of sustainability and social upliftment.

AVOOVA began life 18 years ago...

In a small workshop on the edge of the remote Karoo town of Prince Albert, a lone artist experimented with the natural materials found in the vast expanses around him. Avoova is currently one of the biggest employers within the Prince Albert community and has a beautiful store in The Alfred Gallery Mall at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.  The eye-catching, creamy veneers created with thousands of shards of ostrich eggshell – AVOOVA’s hallmark – are testament to an artist’s curiosity and the beauty of nature. ‘From shards of shell to elegant luxury contemporary decor.– See how they are made’ WATCH NOW

The Great Karoo

Inspiring landscapes

From beautiful barware to refined table tops.

Born of the African ostrich, this ancient material has been transformed by the company’s artisans into a luxurious decorative finish that surpasses organic veneers from around the world for its beauty and functionality. Everything from bespoke tables to bowls and mirrors are lovingly handcrafted by a team of skilled designers and artisans, who can work the shards of shell into a myriad of textures, colours and patterns.

Tactile designs

A story of authenticity and ingenuity, of sustainability and social upliftment.

Committed to keeping production in the Karoo where it started, AVOOVA sources eggshell from reputable, local ostrich breeders, up-cycling from hatched or unfertilised eggs; a process that is both sustainable and environmentally-friendly.
